Unapologetic Spirituality
It is through divine inspiration that I arrived at Masaru Emoto´s work while at university. My recreation of his experiment included adding complimentary light to the sound frequencies inherent in the words because the vibrational frequencies of the words employed in the experiment were key to my proving the hypothesis. It was the divine spiritual truth inherent in his work that spoke to me and ignited my lifelong interest in light and sound frequencies, their impact on the world around us, and their potential in therapeutic applications. If you are unfamiliar with his work, you can read more about it here.
The Intersection of Science and Spirituality
Science is now catching up to what I knew to be true from way back then. A miracle is only so in the sense that it can’t be explained by modern science… but everything is known to the spiritual. That is what STeM lacks… the component of spirituality. The union of science and spirituality is what allows for control of the elements… the conquest of the unknown… the harnessing of the infinite. I believe that it’s because people have taken spirituality out of every equation that science hasn’t made greater leaps. It was through inSpirited light and sound frequencies that I was able to speak my daughter into existence… a “miracle” given my medical diagnosis of infertility.
I have used sound therapy (through the application of my voice, humming, and vocal vibration) in healing various ailments and diseases in myself, my daughter, and my ex-husband. These and other similar life experiences here in Guatemala validate my truth and inherent belief in the therapeutic efficacy of sound and light therapy. As I mentioned in my last post about Somatic Breathwork… the Bible references the power of the word, as do other ancient texts. But they weren’t referring to literal “words” … rather to the inherent power of the frequencies produced by words.

The Power of Frecuency and Vibration
"If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency, and vibration."
- Nikola Tesla
Buddhist monks champion mantras that induce heightened states of consciousness… here again… the power is in the frequencies, vibrations, and specific sonic qualities being produced by the vocalizations used in these mantras. On and on in ancient cultures and spiritual beliefs. Temples in India with visual representations of cymatics and pillars that produce sound when struck. Egyptian pyramid chambers with pitch-perfect resonance (likely used for healing). I also believe it is through light and sound that ancient people were able to construct their impressive temples… levitation through sound, drilling, and melding of materials with light tools made stronger with intense concentrated sound vibration, etc.
Even incantations are nothing but frequencies. The word incantation comes from the Latin word incantare… cantare being the root of the word… cantare… singing… chanting and music. But in all of the years I have spent learning about light and sound, I had yet to come across Bhramari Pranayama; a vocal toning technique. “Vocal toning means using your voice to harmonize and balance your cells and your energetic pathways. Whereas chanting mantras and songs (also known to heal, open and harmonize) uses rhythm, vocal toning is known for its steady state of one tone per exhale.” If you are interested in learning more, this article explains and has videos on how to practice it.
Bhramari Pranayama is one of the eight Pranayama Breathing Techniques and is also known as Humming Bee Breath. Humming is one of the techniques I have been called to use often throughout the years. It´s not a yoga technique I “learned”, but rather a tool I use in following my own personal spiritual intuition and guidance. I don´t practice it in exactly the same way as a classic Yoga practitioner would but, even in my personal application, this form of vocal toning has proved to be effective in healing. When I feel inspired to use humming or any form of vocalization, I allow Spirit to guide my volume, speed, rhythm, pitch, tone, overall harmonic content, and how I apply it.
Sound waves have a unique frequency or frequencies. “Sound waves are created by vibrating objects, like our vocal cords. The frequency or frequencies at which an object will vibrate when somehow disturbed or activated is known as the natural frequency of the object. All objects have a natural frequency or set of frequencies at which they vibrate. Some vibrate at a single frequency, or pure tone, while others vibrate in complex waves with various frequencies that produce a richer tone.” Read more here.

Understanding Sound: Its Healing and Transformative Nature

Sound waves have a holographic quality. “Every atomic particle contained within a sound bubble, like from a person's voice, shares all of the data that describes the sound source. Every atom and molecule of air that comes in contact with the vocal folds transmits all its vibrations to neighboring atoms and molecules, creating a small pearl-like orb of sound around the vocal folds. This pearl of sound expands, leaving the person's nose and mouth to propagate. The sounds that begin at the vocal folds are modified in tonality by the oral and sinus cavities. The combined vibrations of the oral and nasal sound emissions describe the uniqueness of a particular voice.” Read more here.
Sound waves encourage cell division and healing. “There are a number of therapeutic sound modalities in current use that utilize either ultrasound, audible sound, or infrasound. Therapeutic ultrasound is already a mainstream modality for the support of soft tissue injury and certain types of bone fracture. Every molecule within a sound field contains all of the data of the original sound source. Therefore, when sound penetrates tissues, every molecule within the region of the body being treated shares in all of that data. The integral membrane proteins and even the DNA within the cells receive and resonate (match perfectly) with the sound data from the therapeutic modality.” Read more here.
Sound waves modify our consciousness and energy. “Consciousness and energy meet in vibration, and vibration that interacts with the physical world is called "sound" by the mystics, whether it is audible or not. In speaking, a meaning (consciousness) is combined with breath (energy) to produce a sound. That complex vibration spanning many frequencies that constitutes an individual person can be readily affected by vibrations from without which resonate within. Realizing this, the master deliberately participates in his or her dynamic creation by self-generating sound vibrations that will interact with his or her signature vibration to promote aspects of the self that are needed to accomplish his or her purpose.” Read more here.
Stars can be identified by spectral analysis of their light because every star has a unique vibration. So too people (and everything on Earth) can be distinguished by their unique combination of frequencies. Sound can shape your identity, heal your wounds, and change your story. Let go of pessimism, fear, confusion, doubt, resentment, and anger. Open your heart to optimism, kindness, compassion, gratitude, and joy. Surrender to your deepest truth and share it with potency. Harness the frequency of love, harmonize, and resonate with it. Reverberate who you are, and express the unique song your Soul is meant to sing.
