I wish I was
What if I’d said
Why did I not
What could I do
No second guess.
Yesterday was a victim of theft
Tomorrow bears a whole lot of heft
Today is what´s real and is left
No regret to address.
What once was no longer exists
What may be is just a checklist
What is is what has to persist
Nothing else to confess.
Focus on the present
Ignore the incessant
Be the best parent
Love more, worry less.
The role I was born to play
The part of myself where I slay
Everything else takes a backseat
The parts of myself that don’t meet
No room in my life for distress.
