All babies have quirks, and Hannah is no exception. I need to get them in writing so as not to forget.
Here are some of her cutest:
1. Her first way of communicating her need for attention, HIGH PITCHED Screams and Squeals, and let me tell you that the acoustics of the shopping center my friends and I like to frequent are great, so everyone knew when Hannah was there.
2. Now she doesn´t scream or squeal as often, but she has learned to cough a sweet little fake cough when she feels she is not getting enough attention. A typical outing: "This is sooo Good! (*cough, *cough) I am so glad I can finally (*cough, *cough) get my bubble tea fix in Guate! (*cough, *cough)... Do you want some water Hannah? (drinks water)... So yeah, (*cough, *cough) what was I saying? (*cough, *cough)"
3. She must have some Spaniard blood running through her veins because I swear she was born a Flamenco dancer. Every time she is excited or happy she twirls both hands and both feet as though she were dancing Flamenco, all she needs are the castañuelas.
4. She likes to chew on tables... don´t ask me why, maybe it´s the clanking feel of new baby teeth against a hard object, the yummy germs, the cold surface, or maybe it´s just ´cause she can and she wants to.
5. She is so obstinate, so determined, and so persevering that she will grunt and yank her chubby little baby arms down in frustration and then give me a look of exasperation followed by a coy smile (I´m not buying it Hannah, been there, done that) every time I come between her and her objective.
6. "What are you eating?", "What are you drinking?", "Who just got into the elevator?", "What do you have in your hand?", "What is that hanging from your purse?", no better yet "What is IN your purse?", "What did you put in my stroller?", "What is on the table?", "What does the menu taste like?", "What is the place mat made of?" OMG the list just goes on and on! I don't even want to imagine what it will be like when she can actually talk.
Hannah is soooo SHUTE (Spanish for Incredibly Nosy), but wait, my husband doesn´t like me using the "offensive" word "shute" so I try to use the politically correct word "curious" whenever he´s around... but seriously people, the correct term IS shute. Curious just doesn't express the extent of her incredibly strong willed desire to be in - taste - touch - pull - grab - throw - examine everything and everyone that crosses her path. My BF and I joke that she is like a great white shark, patiently waiting, acting nonchalant, expressing no interest until the prey falls within her grasp, and that is when she ATTACKS, with no warning and in nanoseconds!
What do all of these "random" quirks mean? ¡Que esta niña me sacará canas verdes! (in other words, I will be greying prematurely). But like Michelle said on the show Bunheads... "Oh little one, I have done all that you have done or shall do. Thought of all you have thought or shall think. I am all knowing. I am Jessi."
