Guate Mom Blog Hop

Jessica 10:51 AM 0

I have recently become obsessed with a local Facebook Group for Guatemalan Moms called Cosas de Wiros. It is like going to a town fair, meeting and chatting with other moms about all things baby and kid related. The group discusses everything from finding a good spot for a birthday celebration, home remedies, venting about unsopportive husbands or whatever happens to have upset you that day, to what schools / pediatricians / etc. are recommended. It really is better than Google for any concern, question or general curiosity you might have because the answers are given to you by other mommies who are like you, live near you, frequent the same places as you, etc. All of that makes the advice all the more useful and gives you the peace of mind that it will very likely apply to your current situation / need / concern.

On one of the many days I have spent fixated on my Facebook news feed (so many mommies, so many worries, so many questions... the group has literally taken over my news feed) I came across a post by a fellow group mommy asking what the most disgusting thing you have had to do as a mom was. I found the question so enticing I decided to add my very own experience which was having to use my bare hands to help my little girl poop because the poo was too hard for her to push out on her own. It was, and I kid you not, very much like what I envision assisting a natural birth is like! All thanks to the first week of preschool where they obviously had not given her as much water to drink as I do at home. I learned from that experience to add more fiber to her diet and compensate for the lack of water at school by giving her more water to drink while at home in the afternoons. Reading the other mothers´ experiences made me laugh out loud and even remember the other disgusting thing I had had to do, which I had obviously blocked out of my memory. It was the very first time my daughter got sick and she was very congested and was having difficulty breathing so a mother had to do what a mother had to do and I remember I wrote all about that first disgusting experience, you can read about that here.

Anyway, the mother who posted the question revealed she had asked the question to get inspiration for a blog entry she was writing. I was overcome with joy to come across another Guatemalan mommy blogger so I wrote her a message about starting our very first blog hop together. I had read all about blog hops and was always tempted to join one, but I just couldn´t find one where I felt my blog fit in. That´s why I jumped at the chance to join up with other Guatemalan mommy bloggers to start our own, united by the beautiful country we call home, especially because yesterday was our Independence Day! So that is why the rest of this entry will be all about the blog hop and of course in Spanish.

Hola Guate Moms!
