The Empress and the Anima: The Divine Feminine Awakened

Welcome to the next phase of our journey: 𝑻𝒉𝒆 π‘¬π’Žπ’‘π’“π’†π’”π’”’𝒔 𝑻𝒉𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒆. The Empress is the ultimate archetype of creation, abundance, and nurturing life force. She is the fertile ground from which all things grow.

In Jungian Psychology, this energy is closely linked to the Anima—the unconscious feminine aspect present in everyone, regardless of physical gender. The Anima is the soul, the source of our emotionality, intuition, and capacity for connection. To activate the Empress is to fully embrace and integrate this divine feminine energy within, moving us toward psychological wholeness and profound creative power. This month, we ascend the Empress’s throne by integrating the wisdom of her four Queens, activating each within ourselves.

The Sovereign of Abundance (Queen of Pentacles)

This week, we begin with the fundamental power of Earth energy: the 𝑸𝒖𝒆𝒆𝒏 𝒐𝒇 𝑷𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒄𝒍𝒆𝒔. She is the Sovereign of Abundance, the embodiment of grounded security, practical manifestation, and deep, sustainable nurturing.

The Queen and the Great Mother

The Queen of Pentacles is the modern echo of the Great Mother archetype in Jungian thought. The Great Mother represents the nurturing, sheltering, and unconditionally accepting force of nature. She is the provider of material comfort and the guardian of the home, transforming inspiration into tangible reality. Her essence is safety, patience, and the ability to find sanctuary and stability in the here and now. She teaches us that our inner wisdom must be grounded in physical well-being.

The Guiding Verse

The Calendar of the Soul verse for this week speaks directly to her domain:

Nature, Your motherly essence, I carry it in my will's being; And the mighty fire of my will, It steels my spirit's drives, That they give birth to a self-awareness, So I may carry my Self within myself.

The verse emphasizes self-possession and material groundedness. We must carry our "will's being" (our purpose) in a stable vessel, allowing the will's fire to "steel" our spirit so we can hold our "Self within ourselves". This is the Queen creating her own sanctuary and security.
